Our farmers' markets in the Bronx and Harlem were more than fresh produce and local vendors—our Kids Club offered creative and hands-on activities for all ages. This Sunday at the Bronx Farmers Market and Saturday at the Harlem Farmers Market, we introduce a special crochet bracelet workshop for kids led by the talented Sari from Orphic Clouds!
Why Crochet Bracelets?
Crochet isn't just a fun craft—it's a fantastic way for children to express their creativity and make something they can proudly wear or gift to a friend. Sari guided the kids through creating their crochet bracelets, and they left with a colorful, handmade bracelet and a new skill!
What You'll Need:
- Crochet hook (size G/6 or H/8 works well for beginners)
- Yarn (choose a medium-weight yarn in bright colors)
- Scissors
- A yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
Basic Crochet Bracelet Instructions:
- Start with a Slip Knot: Place a slip knot on your crochet hook.
- Chain Stitches: Make a chain of stitches as long as you want your bracelet to form the base of your bracelet.
- Single Crochet: Turn your chain and work single crochet stitches into each chain stitch to make your bracelet nice and sturdy.
- Finishing: When your bracelet is long enough, fasten it off by cutting the yarn and pulling it through the last loop. Use a yarn needle to weave in any loose ends.
- Add a Clasp or Ties: To make the bracelet wearable, attach a clasp or tie the ends together.
IG Live Tutorial Reel:
Sari hosted an IG Live tutorial reel that you can follow from home! Watch Sari demonstrate the crochet bracelet-making process step by step on Saturday and Sunday
