Food - Feelings - Faces

We were so excited to see so many kids and families out this weekend at our market and kids club. During their time at the kids activity table, children and parents alike thought about how different food affects our mood. We discussed how ultra processed and high sugar content items might make a child seemingly happy or energetic in the short term, but in reality, these foods do not make your gut happy. When the gut isn’t happy, the mind follows suit. We talked about the wonderful health benefits found in fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and other food that can sustain energy and overall lead to a more positive mood. The children got artistic in creating their ‘feelings’ faces and drawing foods associated with each mood. This was a collaborative discussion and activity that sparked new ideas on how to incorporate certain foods into one’s diet to foster mental and physical well-being!

We have two weeks left of the season, so make sure to come out for the last two weekends of kids activities. There is a lot to learn and do at the Uptown Good Food market. We can't wait to see you next weekend.
