Kids Decorative Tote Bags

Kids Decorative Tote Bags

We're excited to announce that the talented artist Joanna Dammacco-Charles joined Uptown Good Food Farmers Market by hosting a special kids' activity. This interactive workshop taught children how to create decorative tote bags while promoting environmental awareness.

Reducing plastic waste is an essential measure for a sustainable planet. Encouraging children to use reusable tote bags can significantly diminish their dependence on single-use plastic bags during shopping trips and other situations.

Supply List:

  • Alphabet Casual Stencils, 7" x 10" by Craft Smart
  • Tulip® Permanent Fabric Markers, Neon
  • Reusable Tote Bag by Make Market®
  • Natural Cotton Tote Bag, 3ct. by Make Market®

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Choose a design: Decide what you want to write or draw on your tote bag. Consider using your name, a favorite word, or a simple design.
  2. Place the stencil: Carefully position the stencil onto your tote bag. Ensure it is secure so it doesn't move while you're painting.
  3. Apply the paint: Use the fabric markers to fill in the letters or designs within the stencil. Apply a thick coat of paint for a colorful result.
  4. Remove the stencil: Gently peel off the stencil once the paint is dry.
  5. Let it dry: Allow the paint to dry completely before using your new tote bag.

Not only is this a fun and creative activity, but it also provides kids with a practical tool for carrying fresh produce home from the market.
