Build Your Healthy Day Bracelet at Uptown Good Food
Share
This week’s Kids Club activity at Uptown Good Food was to Build Your Healthy Day with bracelet making! The children absolutely loved creating their own bracelets - it was fun, hands-on, and kept everyone engaged from start to finish.
Surrounded by the vibrant energy of the market, stands full of fresh fruits, local vegetables, and organic treats, the kids shared stories about how their families shop there every week. Many proudly told us how their moms buy their favorite veggies right at the market!
Using a mix of colorful beads and playful pendants, each child built their own “healthy day” bracelet. Every charm represented something positive; fruits and veggies for energy, hearts for self-love, and water or outdoor play for balance. As they strung their beads together, they also built their own version of what a healthy, happy day looks like.
Materials:
-
Silver Flower beads/Regular Beads = Fruits & Vegetables
-
Gold hearts = Self-care
-
Gold Frog pendants = Stay hydrated / Water / Nature
-
String or yarn
-
Scissors
Instructions:
-
Tell kids: “Each charm or bead represents a healthy choice!”
-
As they string their bracelet or keychain, explain what each symbol means:
-
Flower = eat colorful fruits & veggies
-
Heart = love your body, rest, or family meals
-
Frog = water or spending time outdoors playing
-
Colored rectangles = foods from different groups (Choose one color)
-
Cut the rectangles off of the attached string and loop it in with the string
-
When they’re done, have each child explain their creation!
This creative activity reminded everyone that wellness can be fun, expressive, and personal. Thank you to all the families who joined us and helped make another Kids Club day so meaningful!
